Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions can benefit from chiropractic care?

In theory, any condition can benefit from chiropractic care. As a chiropractor, I’m not the one healing your body—I’m simply helping remove restrictions in your nervous system so that your innate intelligence can do what it’s designed to do: heal and regulate your body naturally. This allows you to function at your best.

By improving how your body functions, we can often get to the root cause of symptoms instead of just masking them. Many of my patients are surprised by how many different symptoms improve with care—even ones they didn’t expect to be connected to chiropractic.

Over my six years as a chiropractor, patients have reported improvements in everything from athletic performance and sciatica to ear infections, headaches, vertigo, allergies, immune function, sleep, digestion, period pain, muscle cramps, injury recovery, and of course—neck, mid-back, and low back pain.

I don’t just treat the spine—I'm also highly trained in adjusting extremities like knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists, ankles, and feet.

Do you take my insurance?

At Innerbloom Chiropractic, I proudly serve the Anchorage community as a cash-based wellness office. I don’t work directly with insurance providers, but if you have chiropractic coverage, I’m happy to provide the documentation you need to submit for reimbursement on your own. I accept HSA and FSA forms of payment, and I always welcome open, honest conversations about finances.

Many of the individuals and families I work with use chiropractic care as a proactive part of their wellness routine. Not working with insurance companies allows me to offer truly individualized care—focused on what you need, not what insurance dictates.

Is it safe to see a chiropractor when pregnant?

Yes, it is very safe to see a chiropractor during pregnancy. I have special pregnancy pillows in the office that allow you to lay comfortably in any trimester. I’m also Webster certified and have specialized in prenatal care since 2020.

Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can support proper baby positioning, ease nausea, sciatica, and pelvic pain, reduce headaches and upper back tension, and improve your overall sense of well-being. Research even shows that being under chiropractic care during pregnancy may help shorten labor and delivery times.

As with all of my patients, I’ll always make sure you're comfortable throughout your treatment and will tailor care to your body’s unique needs during every stage of pregnancy.

Why should babies see a chiropractor?

Although birth is a beautiful and natural process, it can be a lot on both mama and baby’s bodies. Even in the most gentle births—whether vaginal or C-section—newborns can experience tension and stress on their nervous systems.

A baby’s spine grows in length by about 50% in their first year of life, which is why I offer gentle, specific chiropractic care to help ensure their brain and body are communicating clearly as they grow. This gives them the best chance to thrive during such a rapid period of development.

Since babies haven’t yet experienced years of postural stress, trauma, or emotional tension, they often respond quickly to care. They usually don’t need to be adjusted as often as adults, depending on their birth story and overall wellness.

Why should kids see a chiropractor?

Kids are constantly learning new things, both physically and mentally. Chiropractic care helps ensure that they can integrate these experiences well and their bodies can continue to adapt to the various stresses life places on us as they grow, helping them to thrive in childhood and beyond. Also, kids tend to run into things, fall, hit their heads on things, get sports injuries, you name it. Gentle chiropractic care can help them recover from these incidents faster, improve range of motion, improve immune function, and even help with sports performance.

Are chiropractic treatments painful?

Chiropractic treatments generally feel quite good. Most patients enjoy getting adjusted and do not experience pain during the treatment. Occasionally, if someone has severe muscle tension or a long history of injuries without any prior chiropractic treatment, there can be some slight discomfort but then relief as the adjustment settles. Some people experience soreness following their first visit, like having a good workout. Drinking water and using ice on the areas can be helpful. I will always walk you through any adjustment I’m doing and make sure it’s as comfortable as possible.

Can My Body Become Addicted to Chiropractic Adjustments?

Some people fear that chiropractic adjustments are habit forming or addictive. Evidence does not indicate that our bodies become addicted to spinal manipulation. However, if you discontinue care, your spine may eventually return to it’s original state. This is not the result of treatment dependency, this is from similar stresses in posture, trauma, and emotions that misaligned your spine and had you seek treatment in the first place. Most patients need less care as time goes on, and they are able to hold their adjustments for longer periods of time. Many patients benefit from more care after an injury or stressful event, and the amount of care you need will depend on your life experiences at any given time. Lifestyle changes can also help you hold adjustments longer, and I will work with you to uncover things in your life that may be affecting your spinal health and help you make improvements.
